I once stayed in a one-bedroom AirBnB in Miami Beach, only I didn’t realize there was only one bedroom until I got up early and found my hostess sleeping on the living-room futon. We all do what we can to get by, right?

A couple years ago I moved to a smaller, less expensive city an hour away from Boston, but then I found it impossible to get a day job in my new town. My roommate and I are both in our late 30s and neither of us foresee being able to live on our own anytime soon (although as I like to joke-on-the-square, if I lived alone I’d be living in squalor 80% of the time, 5% of the time I’d have a pristine house in anticipation of guests, and 15% of the time it’d be still-clean-from-having-just-had-people-over). #LOLsob
