Thanks for reading and taking the time to comment, Steve! I have thought about separate brands, and I’ve written a more commercial novel under a pseudonym as an experiment. Nobody wanted it, which felt like a sign. The times I’ve done well in my career are the times I’ve written the seemingly-bizarre but totally true-to-me story (see: teen cannibal road trip novel 🤣). I imagine maintaining separate brands entails significantly more work, and I’d rather be putting that effort into the writing itself. This series is documenting an experiment into the possibility of connecting with some of the audience marketers tell us we can only attract by “staying in our lane,” and while I may not ever have a mega-audience of readers, to try to repackage myself five different ways simply does not feel authentic (for me, I should emphasize!)
